This is my most recent image of the famous historic dome at Ri Ra Pub, at 22 Market Street in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Originally built in 1803, this is the oldest bank building in the Unite States and was admitted to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The huge glass dome was constructed with The Great Seal of New Hampshire and it is the stunning center piece of the building. It is complimented by the a pub interior that was created by Irish craftsmen from the Georgian era and imported from Ireland. I have seen hundreds of color images of the dome, and captured quite a few of my own. But during this visit to Ri Ra I chose to photograph and process the image in black and white, seeing the dome in a whole new way. I found the lines and patterns in the glass to be equally as compelling as the vibrant colors in the glass.
